Lyla is 2 Months!

Lyla turned 2 months old yesterday! How is that even possible she is that old already?? As I am typing this update you are laying on my chest sleeping. You are never very far away from me or more accurately I am never very far from her. Lyla does not like not being able to see me. She would prefer that I hold her all day I have decided to do a monthly set of questions to track how she is doing every month.

How Old: 2 Months/ 9 Weeks

Weight/Height/: Lyla is 10 lbs 3 oz (21%), 22 inches tall (28%). and her head circumference is 15 inches (45%)
Sleep: Lyla sleeps very well at night! Thank the lord! She will sleep 5-6 hours normally for the first stretch and then every 2-3 hours after that before wanting to be fed again. Naps are a different story. She can either have AMAZING naps or not sleep at ALL unless I am holding her.
New Foods: No food yet. She is exclusively breast fed. This was one area that was my biggest worry. I was never able to have the supply to be able to breastfeed Sprout. I had to always supplement with formula with her and by the time she turned 6 months she was 99% formula fed.
Health Issues: Lyla has been diagnosed with severe acid reflux, colic, and for a while they thought she was dairy intolerant as well. We had an upper GI done last week to make sure all of her anatomy was correct because how much she has been spitting up. Everything came back normal so then we were sent to see the GI Dr. He believes that Lyla will just be a spitter and that she is happy and healthy.
He also told me after almost two weeks dairy free and her bowl movements haven't changed that he suggested I go back on dairy to get the nutrients to help me breastfeed. I am allowed on it until I see blood in her stools.
Now the colic I am hoping she will grow out of in the next month or so. Right now she has a pretty long witching hour. It is from 6-10 normally where not much soothes her besides a bath. And of course I can not keep her in the bath for 4 hours since I have to take care of her sister and make us dinner and put Sprout to bed. We are working on a routine but it is hard.
Best Moment This Month: My favorite thing that happened this month is having Lyla smile at me for the first time! She now smiles at me all the time. She smiles at her Daddy and at her sister as well. They are some of the cutest smiles ever.
Milestones: We are mastering head control, tracking, and that whole smiling gig!
Upcoming Appointments/Events:  Lyla's 2 month appointment is next week.
What I look forward to: I can not wait to see her get a little bit older to start having fun with her sister. Sprout wants so bad to hold her, play with her, pick her up. Soon enough Lyla will be too heavy for her sister to pick her up. Which will cause me less heart attacks.
Monthly Wisdom: No matter how hard it is to have a newborn it is not for long. in about a month they will be sleeping much better, which mean you will be sleeping better.

Introuducing Little Lyla

Hello everyone!

I know it has been a Very long time since I posted a blog. My pregnancy was very hard this time around and I really didn't have the energy to post. So let me give the spark notes version of my pregnancy.
~ Morning sickness lasted till 24 weeks
~ Heartburn started very early on. Not the best thing when you are getting sick 5-8 times a day for 5 months
~ I had hip pain my whole pregnancy to the point I would cry trying to roll over in bed at night and walking was pretty difficult.
~Lyla was on track her whole pregnancy until the end.
~ My blood pressure was perfect this time around!
~ I made it all the way to 39 weeks and my C-section date!

So now on to the best part! I want to introduce our second daughter Lyla Shirley Margaret Smith.
She was born on December 9th, 2016 at 10:42 AM She weighed 6 lbs 11 oz and was 20 inches long.
She is a rock star at breastfeeding. The only issue is she was diagnosed with a dairy intolerance. So that means I no longer get to eat cheese, milk, bread, and a whole slew of other things! She was weighed today at 9 lbs 8 oz! That means at almost 2 months old she has gained almost 3lbs! Lyla weighs more than what Sprout weighed at 3 months!

Speaking of Sprout, She is in LOVE with her sister! She is the best helper there is. She is always willing to get me diapers or wipes, or find Lyla's pacifier. Now the one thing we are having to teach her is that she can not pick up and carry Lyla around just yet. She has picked her up and carried her a few times which has scared the living daylights out of me. She love to hold her and hug and kiss her.

Sprout has been adjusting really well! I try to carve out time for just her and I as well as Cody has been spending a lot of time with her. I can not believe that in just a few weeks we will have a 3 year old! How did that happen? She is doing amazing in gymnastics. As well as learning all of her shapes, colors, letters and numbers. I will be doing homeschool preschool with her starting next month. I am pretty excited about that and I believe that will help with some of the lingering regression she still has.

Here are some pictures that were taken while in the hospital. Also some since we have been home!

Lyla on the left, Sproutt on the right. They look so much a like!

Family Update

So I know it has been about two months since my last post and what can I say... life happens. In that time we have done lots of fun things. We had a cousin's 1st Birthday, Easter and Mother's Day! We had lots of play dates and just fun life things. I thing the biggest new we have is WE ARE HAVING ANOTHER BABY!!!!!!

I am due December 16th and we are beyond excited! I will be doing a pregnancy update every with with a lovely list of questions. This pregnancy has NOT been easy on me at all this time! I have pretty sever morning sickness and usually get sick at least once a day if not more. I again have extreme fatigue again like I did with Sprout. Sadly this time I don't get to sleep 12+ hours a night. As of today I'm 9 weeks 4 days. Like I planned on doing with the pregnancy I lost I am going to be doing weekly updates.

How Far Along: 9 Weeks 4 Days
Weight Gain/Loss: I am not to sure on this but I think I am up 4 lbs
Sleep: I love my sleep! I sleep pretty well at night and then I normally take a 2 hour nap with Sprout
Best Moment This Week: Going in to Babies R Us to go look which double stroller we are going to get!
Movement: Too Early
Food Cravings/Aversions: I have a ton of aversions but it is mostly from smells. My cravings are mostly sweet things again so far as well as Mexican food. I could eat enchiladas or burritos everyday!
What I Miss: Being able to sleep on my belly. Already it is uncomfortable to lay totally on my belly at night.
Stretch Marks: No new ones that I can see.
Belly Button: In It never popped out with Sprout
Wedding Rings: On
Mood: My hormones are running like crazy. I am pretty moody lately. Sadly I know I take it out on my family a bit more than I should. But that should be going away soon! (I hope)
Labor Signs: None
Milestones:   We have passed the week I miscarried in January so I have very relieved by that!

Upcoming Appointments/Events: High Risk Dr (MFM) on the 27th with an ultrasound!
What I look forward to: I am so excited to see this little bean on the 27th. I know I will be getting LOTS of ultrasounds this time around from the beginning!
Weekly Wisdom:  Everything can wait. When you feel so sick all day and all you want to do is sleep. It is okay!
